You might be thinking about what I mean by Hair type. We always think that the hair can be either curly or straight. It’s the only two types of hair found. But you will be surprised to know that there are 12 types of hair and each is different from another. This is the reason celebrities’ hair is so perfect because they know their hair type. I too was unaware of these many hair types. But recently, I came across a pic of hair types, and then I decided to write a blog on it as if we do not know our hair type how we will take care of it? So, after a whole lot of research, I have brought for you the hair types and how one can take care of it-

There are four main types of Hair-

  • Straight Hair
  • Wavy Hair
  • Curly Hair
  • Super Curly or Kinky Hair

These four types have other subcategories-

1. Straight Hair-

We all are aware of this category, but there are not just straight hair; there three types of straight hair. If you are into this category, you might be facing the problem of getting greasy hair in a day or two as the oil from the scalp travels the whole hair making it greasy. Now, let us look at its three subcategories-

  • Type 1A- This hair is very straight and fine; it is commonly found in women of Asian Descent.
  • Type 1B- This hair is thicker with a medium texture. It also has more volume.
  • Type 1C- This is also straight, but hair is very thick, shiny, and coarse.

2. Wavy Hair-

With the name we all can understand, that it is a wavy hair. They are slightly thicker than straight hair. They are also divided into three categories, according to the type and shape of wave-

  • Type 2A- This is S-shaped waves; they are very thin but are easy to style.
  • Type 2B- This is wavy, and thickness is medium, but it is a little frizzier than 2A.
  • Type 2C- Frizzy, wavy, thick and coarse.

3. Curly Hair-

This is the curly hair, we all know off. These are that kind of curl, which when washed becomes straight and then after drying goes back to curls. It is the same type I am having. Now let’s look at it subcategories-

  • Type 3A- This has a thick texture, lot of shine but is frizzy.
  • Type 3B- This type has tighter curls and has a combination of textures.
  • Type 3C- These are the tight curls and are easy to style.

Mine one goes into 3A type of curls.

4. Super Curly Hair-

These are very curly hair. We can say one with tight coils. They get very affected by heat and chemical products as they are very sensitive, and their texture is fairly coarse. It is also divided into three subcategories-

  • Type 4A- They are the soft, well-defined curls.
  • Type 4B-  These mean very tight curls, but are soft and fragile.
  • Type 4C- These are coil types of curl, which do not even look like curls.
